About the Cottages

Owned by Jennie and her family, The Cake House and The Wheelhouse are two charming holiday cottages - tucked away in the heart of the countryside.

 

The Cake House was used as a cattle shed many years ago. The livestock were fed by cattle cake in the Winter and the buildings nickname has remained till today.

 

The Wheelhouse was once a working barn on our family farm. In its former life, the building played a vital role in day-to-day farm life—housing pigs in the straw-filled pens, ducks that waddled freely between puddles, and cows that sheltered inside during the colder months. The walls still carry the character of those days, with original beams and stonework preserved to tell the story of its rustic past.

 

The barns were converted in 1999 but Jennie and her family still farm the land next door. Guests staying in the master bedroom of The Cake House have a wonderful view across the valley with views of newborn lambs in the Spring.
